The key to successful service is aware...Ridiculous. The key to successful service is awareness/participation to various facets of life and having knowledge and thoughtful awareness of a wide range of thought. It helps to have friends, acquaintances, and regular conversations with all types of people and to not allow yourself to be restricted to any type of bubble, be it golden or otherwise. I have met “golden boys” like Trump, but I’ve also met people from equally limited circumstances from the other end of the economic scale. It’s equally amazing to meet a young person from the so-called inner city who has not seen much beyond the ’hood and hasn’t given thought to anyone other than people they know. I had to correct a young brother who was railing against a white man for being a descendant of slaveowners. When I pointed out that the man was Polish and most likely was descended from serfs himself, I could tell he had absolutely no clue what I was talking about. Being from Chicago, I’ve seen ignorance flow from the mouths of people of every ethnic group, age, and faith, and realize that the most successful public servants are well-rounded, well read, and able to deal with all kinds of people. Age has nothing to do with that. I’m pretty sure that Trump has been unfit for the role he now plays from day one.Durham Skywriterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06465426816979359088noreply@blogger.com
