Why Must the President be a Nigger in my BoomerWorld

Someone called President Obama a nigger at The Duke Center for Living Fitness Center this morning. I didn't actually hear him say it. By the time I was summoned to the area, I heard him say "Obama has done more to divide this nation than any other President." Once a small group of us gathered in the area of the gym where they were, the two men left and headed to the men's locker room.

Okay, so here's how it went down. Miss Merlita, who looks 60 but is probably closer to 90, was sitting in a chair in the weight training area, along with three other older white men. I was approximately 20 feet away in another section of the weight training area along with one some other people. I kept looking at her because I was curious as to what she was doing since she wasn't using the exercise equipment attached to the chair.

Suddenly, she motioned for me and another man to come to her.  I remember thinking, "She's getting ready to talk my ear off!"  When we got there she pointed to one of the men and said he just called the President a nigger.  We started joking with her about her bad hearing until another man nearby confirmed that he also heard it.  As our conversation escalated, the two men got up and headed towards the locker room.

When I posted what happened on Facebook, someone asked if anyone said anything to the two men. No one did. I think this goes back to the mentality of older blacks in the South. They say "Shame on whitey and let's put it in God's hands," but they don't want to be confrontational. They still believe in trying to keep the peace even though the world around them is reminiscent of a period they want to forget. Had I actually heard the comment, I am sure I would've gotten in their faces but I, too, chose to follow the crowd. Perhaps that means I'm mellowing out as I grow older. But it doesn't mean I don't see the racism that exists among boomers and senior citizens as it relates to President Obama.

The Boomer generation has been labeled the greatest generation but when I see and hear how MY GENERATION is reacting to this upcoming election, I have to say we are anything but great. Disgraceful is more like it.

Dear Bev, Great post. Bigotry has out done itself by miles and miles. It sickens and frightens me that people can be so hateful...I've been called an N lover so many times in the last four years (and I'm sure for the next four years) because of my Obama bumper stickers...to which I've replied numerous times, "and your point is?" I'm voting for a human being who believes that integrity is an important virtue, and for someone who most represents my world view. I'm very proud to be voting for Barack Obama. love and peace, @nannette1094

The Boomers labeled themselves the Greatest Generation , hence they must be insane they are not and highly disillusioned.Get off your high horses and stop indoctrinating kids with that pro 70s bs. They ruined America with living beyond their means and now we X,Yers have to pay for their ss until they die. The Greatest Generation were those who were old enough to fight in WWII. You Boomers are kidding yourselves when you attempt to hijack that title. And I hate "hippies" - their parents gave them a good life and economy and they couldn't say thanks, they smoked pot, chanting dumb slogans and caught herpes until the seventies and got on welfare. It was clearly a fad, hippies didn't help integrate or stop the Vietnam war , BB's watched their older siblings do this. Most of them missed the 60s and actual productive protests because THEY WERE TO YOUNG! Then when they grew up, they derailed the real protests , the productive ones in a useless hippie fest or just went to disco. That is why they are so racist and hypocritical now because they loved fads. They went mental and screwed everyone in the eighties turning into yuppies purchasing houses and cars they'd never afford. They made it fashionable to get divorced because the "romance was gone" and raised a bunch of kids in broken homes. Love isn't a fairy tale, there won't be trips to France and diamonds. You can botox your way to hell for all I care. Oh and thanks for WWIII while you heave the last moments of your materialistic lives trying to get my whole generation of men drafted. Didn't you people run from "Nam'"? I and many others hate Boomers, thanks for letting media control your thoughts, thanks for letting music become an industry , thanks for the cost of effin' bread being so high and mostly thanks for college prices. Thanks for letting them get so high no one can afford it and thanks for hideous Disco music and ugly pants. You BB's disgraced every western country in the world and you destroyed Americaks image with your war_a_ganda and igorance when abroad. Your generation made it cool to be disrepectful and whoreish/ and proud about it. Free love was just shattering all the other generations home life. Don't you have a Botox meeting to go to? Selfish , greedy , gullible , self righteous, false prophet , ignorant , oversexed, home wrecking generation known to man. You all owe x and Y an apology for ruining America. How dare you say you were the Greatest Generation, you all must still be mentally warped from your LSD , Disco Parties. And Barrack is a croonie like the Republicans , that's what I am talking about. You are all manipulated and gullible.

I am amazed so many people feel this way about the president. I personally see him as divisive, arrogant, racist and incompetent.
