Baby Boomer Women have been Disrespected!

One of the beautiful things about living in America is you have the right to free speech but what are innocent people supposed to do when that “free speech” crosses the line and paints an unfair picture?

On Saturday, January 5, 2008 I issued a press release regarding the women who make up the Platinum Club Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame. I went through free-press-release.com. When the press release went "live" it was connected to some DISGUSTING ADS from a site called Etology www.etology.com/buying-space-detail.php?id=12086&EID=53955
I have personally never heard of this company but I do know that many websites and bloggers (myself included) use Google AdWords as a way of making a little extra change. It has always been my understanding that Google searches for "key words" and then places ads associated with the subject matter. They do that on my personal websites: http://www.enjoyyourmenopause.com and http://www.thebabyboomerdiva.com.

In this case, Etology.com chose pornographic ads as a link to my, otherwise, respectable press release. See for yourself:

http://www.free-press-release.com/news/200801/1199573983.html
What "key words" could Etology.com have picked out of my release to connect it with those type of ads? I have sent several emails to free-press-release.com but they have yet to respond.

We are appalled that Etology.com would choose to include porno ads on a release site that is about classy, sophisticated, smart, savvy baby boomer women. Included in our group are authors, ordained ministers, entrepreneurs, career counselors, celebrities, etc.

We, as members of the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame, are not going to tolerate being associated with these kinds of ads! It shows that someone isn't really paying attention to what they're doing.

By the way, please visit the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame: http://www.enjoyyourmenopause.com/web_of_fame.htm

It is tragic that we have to worry that such pornographic and repulsive references be placed prominently next to legitimate press releases. Not only were these ads disgusting, they were demeaning and degrading to women as well.

This is both an insult and an outrage!

Well Beverly perhaps this is a wake-up-call to those working within such networks, that sometimes free press can also bring about 'bad press' when not doing their job right? We have come to expect a certain degree of errors as we participate online but this is simply unacceptable and most unappropriate from both Google and the Blog service-

I have yet to receive a response to my email sent earlier, bt will not be letting this slide until those vulgar profanities are removed! Thanks for adding to the support of your baby boomer ladies.
We appreciate all that you do!

Sorry Bev, I came back to correct a mistake from previous post-
The word I SHOULD have used was inappropriate...See? It's not so hard to fix a mistake? Pity others couldn't follow suit! Seems I won't be getting a response from Free press today, so i am going to get some rest.....best of luck my dear Diva!

I totally agree with you Eileen.

Deb,

Maybe there is a place for such ads but it certainly wasn't on my particular press release.

As a member of the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame, I was appalled when I heard of these ads. My opinion of Google has certainly dropped another notch! Don't they pay more attention to their own site than this? Thank you, Bev, for bringing it to everyone's attention.

You're welcome Melodieann!

I wonder how many other releases have had such ads connected to them and they didn't even notice it.

It is pretty outrageous. It's not personal, though. And most of us just ignore Google Adsense.

oh dear,
How awful-I'm cringing, but after reading your next post-I'm proud of you for getting to the "bottom" of the problem and standing up for yourself!
