Today, Eons.com announced the results of its second annual “State of Longevity Report,” which ranks states according to boomer life expectancy. Colorado and Hawaii top the list this year with the highest average calculated age of 92.15. The results are based on data collected from more than 650,000 Eons.com members from May 2007 to May 2008 who completed its proprietary Longevity Calculator at www.eons.com/calculator.
Thomas Perls, M.D., M.P.H., is creator of the Eons.com Longevity Calculator and founder and director of the New England Centenarian Study, the largest study of centenarians and their families in the world.
“Both online and offline relationships are one of the keys to longevity,” said Dr. Thomas Perls. “As boomers go through life changing events like retiring, moving, downsizing, or relocating – they need to create new networks. Boomers are not as accustomed to building social groups online, so they’re going to have to get creative about meeting new people and staying in touch with family and friends. Eons.com is a great place for them to connect with interesting people who share similar life experiences.”
If you can't make it to Hawaii or Colorado, the survey also lists: California, Utah, New Hampshire, Alaska, Montana, Oregon, Connecticut and Arizona as states where you're life expectancy is at least 91 years.
It's interesting to note that not one southern state made the Top 10.

Three things that make a man/woman –
Hard work
Sincerity

Three things in life that can destroy a man/woman –

Three things in life that, once lost, hard to build-up –

Turning Opposition into Opportunity
No one goes through life problem free. The question is, how do you handle your circumstances? Do you try to ignore them and hope they'll go away or do you allow yourself to nearly drown in a self-made pity pool?
Paul in the Bible was faced with constant challenges and opposition. In 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 he said, "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed..."
Every opposition in your life carries an opportunity for you to learn, live or give.
Ask yourself the following questions when you're facing some type of opposition:
1. What can I learn about myself from this situation? (What attitudes, character traits, choices, etc. does this situation reveal about me?)
2. How should I live in the face of the challenge? (Choose courage, faith, love, hope, etc.)
3. What can I give in the situation? (Give yourself another chance, give your time to help someone else, give the gift of forgiveness for some offense, give up your own pride, give up on negative thinking)
One final note, challenges are a part of life's lessons designed to make you stronger and wiser not only in your personal and spiritual life but in your business dealings as well.

50-year-old Baby Boomer Jock Makes a Comeback
The Detroit Shock Women's Pro Basketball team signed 50-year-old Nancy Lieberman, a Hall of Famer and one of their former coaches, to a seven-day contract and she's expected to play TONIGHT in Houston.
Lieberman became the oldest player in WNBA history at 39 while playing for the Phoenix Mercury in 1997, the league's inaugural season. During her professional playing career, she averaged 15.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists,
Prior to her pro career, she played at Old Dominion University from 1976-80, helping the school win two national titles, and played for the U.S. Olympic team in 1976 and 1980.
A spot opened up for Lieberman on the Detroit Shock team when standout forward Cheryl Ford suffered a season-ending knee injury Tuesday night when the Shock, assistant coach Rick Mahorn and the Los Angeles Sparks were involved in a fight.
Lieberman was the first woman to play professionally with men as part of the USBL's Springfield Fame in 1986.
She was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame three years later.
All I have to say is you go baby boomer mama!

The Danger of Iced Tea
It's summer. It's HOT! To quench your thirst, your drink of choice might be a nice, tall glass of iced tea. For many southerners, drinking iced tea is as natural as eating grits. But hold up! Did you know that iced tea contains high concentrations of oxalate, one of the key chemicals that lead to the formation of kidney stones, a common disorder of the urinary tract that affects about 10 percent of the population in the United States.
"For many people, iced tea is potentially one of the worst things they can drink," said Dr. John Milner, instructor, department of urology, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Maywood, Ill. "For people who have a tendency to form kidney stones, it's definitely one of the worst things you can drink."
Kidney stones are crystals that form in the kidneys or ureters, the small tubes that drain the urine from the kidney to the bladder. Men are four times more likely to develop kidney stones than women, and their risk rises dramatically once they reach their 40s.
The most common cause of kidney stones is the failure to drink enough fluids. During the summer, people are generally more dehydrated due to sweating. The dehydration combined with increase iced tea consumption raises the risk of kidney stones, especially in people who are prone to develop them.
"People are told that in the summertime they should drink more fluids," said Milner, who treated Mulac's kidney stones. "A lot of people choose to drink more iced tea, thinking it's a tastier alternative. However, in terms of kidney stones, they’re getting it going and coming. They're actually doing themselves a disservice."
To quench thirst and to properly hydrate, there is no better alternative than water, Milner said. You might try flavoring it with lemon slices. Lemonade helps to ward off kidney stones.
"Lemons are very high in citrates, which inhibit the growth of kidney stones," Milner said. "Lemonade, not the powdered variety that uses artificial flavoring, actually slows the development of kidney stones for those who are prone to the development of kidney stones."
Milner also said people concerned about developing kidney stones should cut back on eating foods that also contain high concentrations of oxalates such as spinach, chocolate, rhubarb and nuts. They should easy up on salt, eat meat sparingly, drink several glasses a water a day and don’t avoid foods high in calcium, which reduces the amount of oxalate the body absorbs.

Is Expensive Always the Best?
Would you spend $1000 for a pizza?
Nino’s Bellissima in New York is offering the world's most extravagant pizza -- a $1,000 pizza topped with six sorts of caviar and fresh lobster. It’s known as the Luxury Pizza, a 12 inch (30 cms), thin crust topped with caviar, lobster, creme fraiche and chives. Cut into eight, it works out to be $125 a slice.
The restaurant owner says he knows this type of pizza isn’t for everybody---no kidding! But he says there are people in New York who can afford it and once tried, they'll be back for more.
The only catch to getting this $1000 pizza is the restaurant needs 24 hours notice for the gourmet dish as it orders the caviar in advance.
And after you’ve dropped a cool $1000 on the pizza, if you have some change left over you can always head over to the midtown restaurant Serendipity that sells a $1,000 ice-cream sundae called Golden Opulence which is covered in 23K edible gold leaf.
